The Payroll Administrator provides administrative support to the Payroll team, focusing on document management, case intake, compliance assistance, and coordination of routine payroll activities. This role is well suited for a highly organized individual seeking foundational experience in payroll operations.
This is a Full Time, hybrid, Payroll Practitioner I role located in Brentwood, TN.
What You'll Do
- Receive, scan, file, and maintain payroll related documentation
- Prepare and distribute live payroll checks in accordance with established controls and timelines
- Support payroll processing activities while maintaining strict confidentiality and data security standards
- Set up employee garnishments based on received orders and documentation
- Enter garnishment data accurately into payroll systems following defined procedures
- Assist with preparation of Power of Attorney forms and related correspondence
- Maintain organized and auditable compliance records
- Perform initial review and triage of payroll cases within the ticketing system
- Ensure cases are complete, accurately categorized, and routed to the appropriate payroll team
- Monitor case queues and support timely resolution
- Provide basic status updates to internal stakeholders as appropriate
- Create, update, and maintain payroll related standard operating procedures in conjunction with subject matter experts
- Ensure SOPs are accurate, current, and aligned with established payroll processes and controls
- Support documentation efforts related to audits, process changes, and compliance requirements
- Provide clerical and administrative assistance to payroll team members
- Maintain electronic and physical filing systems
- Support audits, documentation requests, and special payroll projects
- Adhere to payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Other duties as deemed required
What You'll Bring
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Associate degree or coursework in business, accounting, or human resources preferred.
- Prior administrative or clerical experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook
- Ability to follow documented procedures and meet deadlines
- Exposure to payroll, HR, or case management systems preferred.
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Effective time management and prioritization
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to accuracy and consistency
